עולים חדשים, בעת הגעתם למדינת ישראל הצעירה, מועברים אל מעברת פוריה על רכס העיר טבריה. עם הגעתם לארץ, זוכים לבדיקה רפואית, מסמכי רישום ומקבלים מיטה ומזרון.

After immigrants arrive in Israel, each one is provided with a bedstead and a mattress. After disembarking, they are first taken to Shaar Aliyah (“The Gate”), a transit camp where they get a medical examination and registration documents. They are then sent to different cities, settlements or homes for the aged and the sick. When the immigrants leave for another camp they take their bedding with them. Near Haifa, 1950.

بعد وصول المهاجرين إلى إسرائيل يحصل كل واحد منهم على سرير ومرتبة. يؤخذون بعد نزولهم من السفينة إلى "بوابة عليا" (البوابة)، وهو معسكر مؤقت يتم فيه الفحص الطبي وتسجيل الوثائق. بعدها يتم إرسالهم إلى مدن مختلفة أو مستوطنات أو بيوت للعجائز والمرضى. يأخذ المهاجرون فراشهم معهم عندما يغادرون إلى معسكر آخر. بالقرب من حيفا، 1950.
